There
is only one equipment requirement to record at The Mousetrap.
- A hard disk drive.
If
you are planning to record an EP (typically six songs), or an album (typically
10 songs or more),
you will be required to purchase an IDE drive to record on and store your
project.
This takes the place of reel-to-reel tape in analog recording.
A 30 gigabyte (or higher) drive can store a full album (10 songs ~ 3 to
4 minutes long each).
**Please read**
The Mousetrap currently supports *only* Western
Digital IDE ATA100 7200rpm drives w/8Mb buffer.
Please do not purchase another brand or model to use for recording.
These drives can be found at wholesale prices in the OKC
metro area at PC
Club.
Best Buy has also
been offering some incredible rebate deals on these drives. Check your
local Sunday paper.
The IDE drive will be formatted with a Z:64 option (FAT32), and will lock
all file clusters to the same size,
which allows smoother audio writing and extraction for the operating system.
Your drive can be formatted before your session, so please do not format
the drive without this option.
